I have previously written an article on how you can increase the fps in games which you can find below. For NO lagging you should have at least 30 fps and for super-smooth gameplay, you should get an average of 60+ fps. The more the fps the smoother will be the gameplay. In this, you measure the frame rates with the help of fps measuring software during live gameplay. Real-time Benchmarking – Real-time benchmarking is also known as Real-world benchmarking. For this, you have to perform Real-time benchmarking which I am going to discuss next. They want to know how much frame rates they are getting in games or how much is the minimum, maximum, or average fps. For them, the performance in games means more than these synthetic benchmarks. Well, the results in these benchmarks do provide a good idea about the capability of your graphics card but for gamers, they may not be of that much importance and some of them do not even know what these complex tests do or mean. It is also called artificial benchmarking. These software are reliable and their benchmark scores are one of the most credible ways to know the performance or power of any graphics card. The higher the score the better is your graphics card performance than the ones that have lower scores. The benchmark score is generally in some big numbers. These software have their own inbuilt benchmarking tests and on the basis of it, the performance score is calculated. Synthetic Benchmarking – This is a type of benchmarking which is done using synthetic benchmarking software. Graphics Card Benchmarking can be categorized into two types: But before discussing them you should know that there are two types of benchmarking and there are separate benchmarking tools available for them. They can be used to test the performance of your graphics card so that you can get a clear idea of where you stand in the crowd. Unless a reviewer has 2 laptops that are exactly the same and the only difference is the Video card you have to take almost all info you find on mobile cards with a grain of salt. There are some very good tools and software available for benchmarking graphics cards. There is no real direct comparison with notebooks. well what if you play Starcraft 2?Īnd the 6990 is about the 9th fastest on notebook check. Ok so the 675mx is the 5th fastest in 1 test and the 2nd fastest in the other test. How does the card Perfome on games you want to play? BUT also look at notebook checks specific game performance tests. In some cases the tests are WAY off and in others they are pretty spot on. Passmark is a really good place to go to find a ballpark figure, for how your card performs. So it is still a good card, but it holds itself back by being bad at this 1 thing. Thus it will get a really high score cause it did so great on the first 3 tests, but only OK on the 4th.īut then when you run all these games you find out the most important thing is the subtracting part. Just because the video card can add 1+1 and divide 4/2 AND multiply 5x5 faster than any card on the market does not mean that it is any good at subtracting 10-5. It is a pure test of the GPU, not taking into account the CPU which one laptop model may have a really good CPU and another may have a crap CPU.Īlso it does not take into account real world performance. However it does not take everything into account. Passmark is not a bad test it gives you good results. And in your situation, I partially agree.īut just to provide some insight. Now a lot of people have discredited Passmark.
